Using DR008 How do I use the kits from the Kit Library? [top] Before you can use them, you need to unpack them with WinRAR from www.rarsoft.com WinRAR works just like WinZIP, only it compresses better - which is why we use it: shorter download times for you, smaller bandwidth bills for us! Where can I get some cool add-ons for my DR-008?
[top] DR-008 enjoys a wide range of support from third parties.
Some of the best:
http://www.musiclab.com - SlicyDrummer and FillInDrummer plug-ins.
http://www.delaydots.com - Synare synth snare module for DR-008 and some neat effects plugs.
http://www.fmjsoft.com - AWave sample conversion utility. Import SF2s and Akais with this.
http://www.TenCrazy.com - Various useful DR-008 utilities and more.
http://www.nskit.com - NS Kit high quality acoustic kit for DR-008.
I just got DR-008 and it seems a bit complicated... are there any tutorials?
[top] We have several in the works! Keep an eye on the site for more information. Check out the PDF manual that comes with it - a good reference! Also check out the following article by Kevin Rossiter, which is a great introduction to DR-008 with Musiclab's Slicy Drummer:- Can the DR-008 import kits from Native Instruments' Battery(tm) drumsampler?
[top] Yes. Can the DR-008 import kits from Steinberg's LM-4 drumsampler? [top] Yes, although only those in LM-4 Mark 1 format. The vast majority of LM-4 kits are in this format, and are supplied as a set of samples along with a *.TXT file. DR-008 does not import LM-4 Mark 2 format files, which do not have the *.TXT file. Can the DR-008 import Soundfonts or Akai programs?
[top] Not by itself, at present. We highly recommend the AWave utility for this:- get it from http://www.fmjsoft.com , they have a fully functional demo which will run for long enough to let you convert your favourite Soundfonts and Akai programs. Can the DR-008 import content from B.F.D.? [top] No. DR-008 lacks B.F.D.'s sophisticated multi-channel mixing engine, and cannot disk stream at this point. Does the DR-008 diskstream? [top] Not at present. Will there be a Mac version? [top] No Mac OS X version of DR-008 is planned at this time. Do you allow license transfers? [top] Yes, however:
- If you're the seller, you must contact us in advance of the sale. If you're the prospective second-hand buyer, you must check that the seller is cleared to sell. If in doubt, contact us.
- There is a flat $50 fee per product for a license transfer, which can be purchased from our online shop.
- Review copies, NFRs (Not For Resale copies, sometimes used for in-store demos), etc., cannot be transferred under any circumstances.
- We reserve the right to refuse a license transfer request.
Many other companies charge a fee as well as forcing annoying copy protection (such as challenge/response, dongles, CD-checks etc.) on their paying customers. Several well known companies do not allow license transfers at all!
Once a transfer is authorised and the fee has been paid, the new owner is entitled to exactly the same upgrade paths and technical support resources as if they had bought the product new. |
