The powerful built-in FX and graphical parameter automation allow you to mutate your beats into new, unheard forms, or create subtle variations. Breathe new life into your loops with GURU's unique intelligent loop slicer, which categorizes slices as kick, snare, hihat or percussion hits, letting you use any audio material effortlessly and in the context of your pattern, or extract individual hits and the timing feel from loops. The extensive editing and processing tools then allow you to tweak samples and slice points, or layer more sounds.
Pattern editor
Lightning-fast editing tools make it quick and painless to program beats in GURU's pattern view, letting you concentrate on your ideas instead of getting in the way of your creative flow. Adjustable step-lengths and engine tempo-multipliers allow you to experiment with polyrhythms, while keeping everything synced to your sequencer host tempo.
24 pattern memories
Each engine's 24 pattern memories contain up to 128 steps of note and graph automation data. GURU's simple and effective pattern-management lets you copy and move pattern data quickly and easily. You can even drag and drop a pattern straight to your sequencer's arrange page or to a file!
8 engines
An engine contains 16 sample pads, 24 pattern memories with automation graphs, 3 aux effects and an insert effect. With 8 engines at your fingertips, GURU is a powerful workstation for complex and varied rhythmic productions.
Browser
GURU's browser gives you quick access to sounds, kits and patterns. You can use any of your own sounds or GURU's bundled library, with in-context previewing, pattern extraction from audio and intelligent SmartSlice loop-slicing tools.
16 sample pads
The 16 sample pads are divided up into 4 kick, snare, hihat and percussion pads. This categorization scheme links into GURU's SmartSlice technology, which lets you build categorized kits from any audio materiall in seconds. Rules are there to be broken of course - each pad can hold whatever sound you like!
Real-time recording
You can play beats into GURU using MIDI, just like a classic hardware sampling beatbox. Quantize your recording or preserve the timing as graph information, while the MIDI-linked Commit and Undo controls mean you don't have to keep switching to the computer between takes.
Groove controls
Offering far more possibilities than a simple 'shuffle' or 'swing', GURU can extract groove templates from existing patterns or audio loops, and apply the 'feel' of the groove to your own programming.
Pad editor
The pad editor gives you control over sample/slice start and end points, envelopes, tuning, filtering and more. Each pad has an effect slot and 3 aux sends which, combined with a range of shortcuts and automation mapping options, allow you to effortlessly twist sounds into new shapes and forms.
Built-in effects suite
GURU's high-quality effects algorithms are the result of many years of custom DSP development and include filtering, bit-crushers, distortions, delays, EQs and reverb, as well as creative effects like the freezer and oscillators with sample FM. Effects slots are available for each sample pad and as engine aux and insert effects.
Step-automation graphs
Graphs let you step-automate a range of parameters and effects. Working in parallel to pattern sequences, they can automate filtering, pitch, volume, pan, sample-start point and repeat triggers for glitch effects, and deviations from step divisions for infinite groove possibilities.
Scenes
Scenes are 'snapshots' of the patterns in all 8 engines, and can be assigned to MIDI keys so you can drop parts in and out on the fly. Real-time scene jamming is perfect for live shows or as a refreshingly creative alternative to moving around 'blocks of notes' in a sequencer arrange page.
SmartSlice: intelligent loop slicing
 GURU's SmartSlice technique slices a loop based on transients, and then analyses and categorizes 4 slices for each pad category: kicks, snares, hihats and percussion. This lets you assemble categorized kits in seconds out of any audio file, saving hours of tedious editing work and letting you free to experiment with sounds at will.
