Can I run the BFD Cocktail expansion kit with BFD 1.x? [top] No - it can be used with BFD 2.1 and BFD Eco *only*.
BFD 2.1 is a free update to all registered BFD2 users.
BFD Eco is a streamlined instrument based on the BFD2 engine. 
Why does the BFD Cocktail expansion kit require BFD 2.1 or BFD Eco in order to run? [top] BFD 2.1 and BFD Eco can handle the custom channel layout featured in this expansion kit.
Previous versions of BFD and BFD2 cannot.
Note that when running the expansion kit in BFD Eco, limitations apply in terms of the audio channels and articulations that are actually available (this is one of BFD Eco's limitations, as opposed to the fully-featured BFD 2.1).

How are the kit-pieces organized after installation? [top] Just like any normal drum kit, you get Kicks, Snares and Toms.
Kicks:
Provided with rubber and felt beater versions.
Snare:
Provided with stick and hot-rod versions. These are delivered as full-velocity range kit-pieces - there's nothing "lite" about them.
Toms:
