basically from what i gather, people want to Un-quantize the step sequencer and nudge things around. I'm in agreement that the shift notes graph is cumbersome given that you can only work with one lane at a time and you have to go dig it out. Might a compromise be a Shift mode, where via the step se...

Kontakt is very good at slicing things. It is a complete BEAR to work with otherwise. Longer samples were always a weak point with Guru. While you could extract 128 slices per engine via velocity layers, it was difficult to do anything with that. You'd have to figure out where this sample is that yo...

Just like in Guru you can edit the divide/chop slices. you have to slice it first though. then through the pad/layers tab you can move around the slice brackets for each of the pads. The slices are just referencing the entire sound file and not slicing destructively.

How many of those companies do free mid-life upgrades on the scale of GURU 1.0 -> 1.5/1.6 though? Long product life cycles (our ideal is something like 4 yrs with a major mid life upgrade at 2yrs) mean that the eventual pay-upgrades are inevitably going to be more expensive than with those companie...

It seems to be the same Layering system that Guru had, which isn't very playable.

I believe he's been asking for this feature for years. ;)

one sample per pad across all 128 pads/8 engines or less.

I don't use this stuff for anything typical either. I mostly slice up field recordings and explore the abstract/textural sides of things. I often make loops of experiments in Reaktor or Audiomulch and then further process and manipulate them in Guru.

Not on a PC, no. I have to say, it sounds like you guys threw most of the efficiency of Guru out the window. Guru was a program that got it. I could easily switch engines, mute/solo them, change patterns, change pages, surf the browser, load loops/kits, check pads on whatever engine i was on without...

yes, 50% seems standard issue for plugin upgrades. exactly.

not really "taken care of." no one is saying "stiffed" either.

you really can't put any IK products as examples. they have near CONSTANT group buys.

I feel much the same way, mcanavan. I probably wouldn't have cared so much about the upgrade/crossgrade price if it wasn't stated Guru users would be "taken care of." I don't really see upgrades for more than 50% off, so this hardly seems like a special deal. They can, of course, charge wh...

apparently you can hold down ALT when choosing the choke group (engine group one). this doesn't seem to work in plugin mode, so click "Pads" in the upper left, then select choke group.

i get that and I don't use Guru as a plugin and wouldn't use Geist as one either. The demo limits me on this. my point was I could find very little info on mouselessly navigating the software in the manual. other then usage of shift/control/command/alt, i couldn't find anything else in the manual. N...

Okay, after spending a few hours with it today i came to the following conclusions. I can't use the stand alone (which is what i usually do with Guru) so I can't really get a look at the improved functionality that might provide. After looking through the manual I have my doubts my favored workflow ...

My mistake. I read it as a shortcut to the old ALT+SHIFT Engine cutoff group.
