Chopping workflow still unmatched?

Who reckons the chopping workflow is still unmatched? Felt the urge to fire it up and put a loop together the other day; it was a reminder of how powerful the chopping is. I LOVE that you can preview loops auto chopped by Geist and simply drag slices to a pad. So, you hear a loop and basically pick ...

If Geist were hardware, it would be the Akai Force

This thing is beautiful. It started off as a bit of an enigma and has grown into something really desirable.

Akai One. Who wants one?

The physical format of this thing is perfect! Not going to buy one but if I had money to burn I would. :)
Also the software can be bought stand-alone making it a good alternative to Geist.

Si Spex / Barry Beats https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuBkTCO73Jo https://barrybeatsakasispex.bandcamp.com/ I wonder if he'd like Geist? For layers and direct sampling, most definitely! :D Love the rawness of these videos; no hype, just passion for sound. If he's playing a character then hats off to...

Most powerful feature for you?

Hi Let me first qualify by saying I'm no pro and barely touch music production these days. Recently I did a system upgrade and have been having a look at old ideas to check the cpu utilisation (Ryzen 3600X, 16GB). It's superb! Coming from an old Athlon FX8320e is a real upgrade. Anyway... I fired up...

Re: Where is the new beta?

That's great news. Just because NI and Akai have the market it doesn't mean there is no room for another.
If it could (eventually) be flexible enough to be fully automatable by hardware such as Maschine, Push or the MPC X then it's a winner. The foundation is there, it's just the little things.

Re: What's going on?

I was going to reply asking for context a while ago but why question a man for letting off steam.
Took advantage of the £12 credit and went for Cinematic FX as those samples are great for chucking into a daw/other instruments. Thanks FX, much appreciated.

Re: What's going on?

Oh God! Geist is a metaphor for that relationship you keep thinking will be better "this time". It now doesn't like multiple instances in Bitwig. What is this, jealousy? It keeps loading the same settings in each one. 2.0.7.53, then reconsidering the single life. I was starting to ...

Re: MIDI bind not working correctly.

What I'd recommend is check what was fixed in 2.1.0.2 and if nothing there is essential to your work/play then downgrade to 2.0.7.53. It works properly in that version. What you will lose is the ability to control all layers with the same controller using the 'all layers' function. Not really too mu...

Re: What's going on?

I have a suspicion the original coders aren't around any more which is why the project has ground to a halt. This is really complicated software. Computers are magic. With the resurgence of drum machines these days it's madness to not put some time into this and fix it up. FX (you) could get so many...

Re: FIXED - Sample Start and End Point editing broken?

 ...I'm only laughing 'cause I know how you feel. True love. I get on alright with the chopping side. That button that does the auto-zoom; I find that there's a need to click off it and on it again to get the right zoom sometimes. Not too much trouble. Ed: You mentioned some problems with...

Re: FIXED - Sample Start and End Point editing broken?

SO glad this was fixed in the latest update! It makes a BIG difference having access to the graphical envelopes again (it was more practical to disable them and use the faders before the fix). The ability to really take control of sounds and slices is one of the key selling points imho. The envelope...

Re: Issues with timestretch?

You could say that things are no different now than they were back then when all of this started. Certain bits of gear could do certain things really well but each had certain restrictions or idiosyncrasies. Geist happens to do loop chopping and drum layering extremely well. Just forget about loopin...

Re: Issues with timestretch?

Oh boy! What are we doing to ourselves eh!? Looks like there are some serious issues going on under the hood. Regarding the lack of acknowledgement from FX, who knows what's going on there. It's unfortunate and I don't want to accuse anybody of being deceptive but hey, that's the world we live in. F...

Was this fixed?
Experiencing some issues when timestretch is used. It's causing some clicks/glitches.
