Re: Transmod!

Very cool suggestions Rory -- some good ideas I've haven't tried yet. Thanks!

Transmod!

Now that I've gotten my head around it, I've really been enjoying the transmod capabilities in 2. At first, I was using transmod to make things sound crazy, putting in really big sweeps/sequences/random jumps, and it does that stuff well. But lately I've been digging making a lot of small changes to...

Re: BEAST!

Yes, definitely. I've been messing with this a lot now, creating stuff out of synths like Omnisphere and exploring the cutting edge rhythmic possibilities. Now that the samples are so clear (especially with my sound card - it sounds amazing when the sample rate is so jitterless) I find its like hav...

Re: Geist 2 bug + minor enhancements thread.

Running standalone in OS X 10.11.5, the application is crashing when I try to open some, but not all (and I can't logic out what's affected) old kit libraries. The program shuts down when I click on the folder location in the browser. The behavior persists after copying the folder into the Geist 2 c...

Re: Geist 2 bug + minor enhancements thread.

When I switch from one preset to the next (all created in Geist 1 FWIW), it seems like the scenes aren't fully refreshing. The scene names from the previously-loaded preset are still there, though the actual patches contained in the scene appear to be correct. And in cases where the previous preset ...

Re: Geist 2? Will it ever happen..

That looks great Drew.

Is there any update to the time compression/expansion algorithm? The current one's ok for small changes but it'd be great to be able to push it a bit harder without changing the sound too much.

The basic technique involves using the repeat function. I do find that getting it sound right takes a lot of tweaking and experimentation, though. Often what seems to work for me is a couple cells (or more) in a row with different repeat values -- for example, a cell with repeat=2 followed by a cell...

If you're not looking to record anything, easiest thing is to use an aux track instead of an audio track. If you do want to use an audio track, make sure you enable Auto Input Monitoring (alt-k) if you want to hear the track when you're not in record. I route Geist all over Pro Tools, so I'd be surp...

Different sort of tip, but when I'm slicing up a loop, I've taken to classifying the high-hat hits based on whatever preceded them. So all the hits that came after a kick go on one pad, all the hits after a snare go on another, etc. Then, when I sequence, I choose the hh pad based on what just happe...

It's a known issue. I believe there was a thread about it in May (?), though I couldn't find it when I searched.

It seems to happen much less in the beta, though it's not gone entirely.

As a workaround, you can fill any empty slots with duplicate samples, and it will trigger every time.

...and apologies for the enormous screenshots. BTW, I've replicated this issue in both standalone mode and Pro Tools 10.3.9. Speaking of Pro Tools, when I load PT, I get following message (see screenshot.) The first time I saw it, I assumed I'd have to enter my authorization code, but when I hit 'no...

I'm getting the message that audio files could not be found as I try to load kits, even though I haven't moved any audio files since the time the kit was saved. It seems like I'm only getting that message for kits I've created or modified while using the beta. So, for example, if I've added a pad to...

Or does anyone know of any trick to figure out the name of a kit - eg something in the pads that could identify it if you search in the search engine? If you go to the pad/layers tab, you can see the name of the source audio file(s) for the pads. It's dependent on a well-chosen file name, of course...

I'd love see a hybrid random/velocity-split mode for triggering samples. So for each velocity range, there'd be a subset of samples from which Geist would draw randomly. It may be too fiddly/esoteric to be worth developing, but I know I'd use it. Oftentimes when I've sampled something from a record,...

FWIW, I experienced this behavior in an earlier version (using a Mac), and it went away when I updated to the most recent version.
