Re: Why does Geist have so many bugs?

Make sure Microsoft Wavetable GS Synth is not enabled in: Options > Open Midi Preference > Output Devices Update: I can report there have been no crashes with the latest bit of dabbling including basic editing, recording, midi control, copying and pasting layers, mapping, etc. Ed: It crashed for the...

Re: Some love for FX

Yes! This is true. I'm sure there are a lot of highly professional seasoned producers on here mixing it in with some part time dabblers. As a part time dabbler I have never used a piece of music software on Windows that is as inviting as Geist. Even with all it's flaws I just cannot let it go. For t...

Re: What's going on?

If looping isn't fixed I'm ditching it completely. I know people that just dabble now and then really don't matter to companies so it's no loss to them. All the best for the future if this is the case. Just upgraded to Bitwig2 because they are supporting Linux and that's REALLY important for the fu...

Re: Bug: Sample Start and End Point editing broken?

Can anyone confirm this?

With Amp Env enabled:
1/ Load sample
2/ Move start point
3/ Sample End point moves by equal but opposite amount.

With Amp Env disabled:
1/ Load sample
2/ Move start point
3/ Sample End remains where it should.

Re: FEATURE REQUESTS

Now that Bitwig supports VST3, is there any plan for note expression / MPE? The Geist pattern editor looks like it's built for it. There is no plan to support polyphonic notes but to extend the flexibility of the pattern editor over to the sequencer without having to assign random controllers would ...

Edit: I can't believe that you've only lost an hour on the crashiness. I've lost at least a work week.

Haha, not the crashiness. It was lost while beat tweaking and getting into that focused zoned out state.

Re: What's going on?

I, at least, tried until the 12th crash. :( Still trying every now and then. Yes, if running standalone, save before adding any effects or cutting and pasting pads. Quantize: There is hope. Bitwig runs on Linux and has crazy modulators (now equal to those in Geist2) and the latest VST SDK now has L...

On a positive note...

Geist2 has just been responsible for at least an hour of missing time and a mental state I have not felt in a while. :) The powers that be must have detected the elevated level of consciousness and sent one of their devils pitchfork flying pods to interrupt "the signal" and cause Geist to ...

Re: What's going on?

That's such a shame. It's accessible software like this that keeps me interested in music-tech. Geist is like a throwback to the days of Octamed on the Amiga. It does things the the big industry software can't do and at the same time forces you to think outside of the box. I was messing about thinki...

Re: What's going on?

Sorry, i should repeat my question... I know crossfade looping is really buggy. Stay away if you need to rely on that. I've also come across some weird behaviour with the waveform view which would get annoying very quickly. Today I tried to copy and paste an engine. I had to save, close and reopen ...

Re: FEATURE REQUESTS

After messing about with Force Layer I was thinking "what about a force layer playback mode" in addition to chromatic and velocity. It would work like this: 1/ Choose Pad 2/ Select "Force Layer" mode from the pad dropdown. 3/ Pads 1 - 8 now play layers 1 - 8. 4/ Recording in this...
