ditto on the slowness. Other phpbb sites don't have this lag. Hopefully you guys can get it sorted.

I know, it seems to be from the same 2 or 3 people so why aren't they being blocked.
Every time I report these posts there's a box that asks if I want to be updated on "progress" or something.
Not heard a dickey-bird yet.

Something I've just discovered which hides the spam is that when you click on the "spammers" name (highlighted in blue at the top of their post) it brings up their, "profile" there you can either add them as a friend or as a foe.

I thought this was a joke at first but I tried it to see what would happen and it has removed their posts from the threads so at least until
the forum hosts/web masters get round to (or figure out how to) get shot of them their posts will not be visible.

Yeah, the spam is turning the forums into a garbagefest.

I liked the old forum rules in that you had to have a registered serial number in order to post on product forums.

vBulletin has far better spam handling than phBB IMHO.

Hi

Just for some reassurances:
- We are looking into site speed as an ongoing concern, I'll let you know news on this as it comes
- We are also monitoring the spam situation and are considering bringing back product ownership requirement as a way of cutting this down

Thanks as ever for all of your feedback

Cheers

Obviously restricting posts to registered owners will stop the spammers but doesn't it mean that new customers who are trialling the demo won't be able to ask for help?

Or are there plans afoot to make potential customers register the demo (in addition to setting up an account) before they can trial the demo and is that perhaps why the demo is showing up as an update in the licence manager?

If it does mean potential new users won't be able to post then could there perhaps be a "New users" forum where "Non product owners" could post for help?

Trial customers can ask questions in the general forums, considering that most of them would be pre-sales by nature. We don't see too many trial customers in the BFD3 forum, and perhaps that's a good thing.

True, as long as they know where they're supposed to be posting. I see right now there are 28 users on line with only 8 of them registered but then I know a lot of people just read and very rarely post.

Hopefully, the product registration requirement would only show the general forums to new users. That would better guide unregistered users to the proper place to post.

The unregistered users could be anything from search engines to spam bots looking for an appropriate target to sign up. And with the proliferation of spam on the boards, it would be better to see the product forums better protected, if not the entire site.

Hope this is the general thread it seems...

Got a problem where links from email Topic Reply Notifications don't work (I have to copy and paste the address), neither do the Top links on each post.

Any thoughts anyone?

Not getting that here, what's your browser?
Could be browser related, you don't have a pop up blocker running perhaps?

Steve

Hi again, Steve. I'm on Win10-64/Firefox, kept up to date. The thing is, the Steinberg forum seems to use the same engine as this one (even the emails looks the same) and I have no such problems there. As for pop-ups, I usually get a prompt for them. I haven't noticed any but I will keep an eye out.

Cheers,
Duncan
