Breverb fx causing cracks in Fusor...

Postby vespesian » Tue Apr 27, 2010 7:15 pm

Anyone else getting cracks & stuttering on patches in Fusor (new update) where any of the Breverb fx are employed? I'm in Sonar 8.53, Edirol FA-66 (WDM drivers), Visat 32, C2D - I've changed/compared audio & midi buffer numbers/order/sizes til the cows come home (and they didn't)....only thing I noticed was that, this popping stops if the the "wet" nob is set to 100% or close thereabouts. Also - every now and then - the popping stops and they work as advertised (which is, uh, amazing). The rest of DCAM is completely hassle-free for me. Any ideas?

I can confirm this,Its the same issue i am having mentioned in the last update post, I have just tested all the patches i have issues with and they all have breverb in!
Removing it makes them sound fine :)

Yes, I'm experiencing the same problem with Breverb in Fusor 1.0.3.11 under Ableton Live 8.1.3 and Mac OS 10.5.8. However, if I run Fusor in standalone mode, then the problem disappears. Within Live, the Breverb problem manifests itself even when the CPU meter in Live only registers 18-20%.

Same for me with Fusor 1.0.3.11 and Presonus Studio One on Win XP SP2. A lot of crackles and stuttering.

Can people post the buffer sizes they're using in their host, and presumably everyone is running ASIO?

I use WDM drivers in Sonar.

Hi guys... I think I have the cause of the issue, in Live at least.

Drew is onto the right track asking for our Audio buffer sizes as it appears that the Breverb FX are very picky about the sample divisions.

For example, in Live 8.1 on Mac OSX 10.5.8, an audio buffer setting of 220 samples corrects the problem. However, a setting slightly above (232) or below (204) will cause the issues to reappear.

Hope this helps a little...

HOLY MOLY!!! :o

I have been suffering from the apparent 'bug' in Fusor whereby MIDI notes stick or refuse to play any sound at all.
I know the guys at FX are pretty baffled by this behaviour in Live...

Well, it seems that it's not only the Breverb fx that are picky about the audio buffer sizes in Live!
Now that I have my buffer set to an acceptable division (220 as stated in my last post), this 'bug' has vanished

I'm so chuffed that I'm off to make some phat music immediately...
Can anyone else confirm my findings?

HOORAY! it seems to have worked for me!
Strange, normally in situations like this i would try raising the buffer instead of lowering it.
But yes,All breverb fx are fine and Ableton/Fusor animator issues are gone

Lowering the buffer to 220 didn't help me at all on my MacBook Pro (OS 10.5.8, 2.33 Core Duo, Live 8.1.3). I ended up having to downgrade DCAM to version 1.0.1.2 just to get it to work again.

Sorry it didn't help you Tomoe :(

Just out of interest, what audio i/f do you use?
I realise that it's pretty useless to you now that you've downgraded, but did you attempt to experiment with many different audio buffer settings within Live and running the latest version of DCAM?

I'm using TC Electronic's Impact Twin firewire interface for audio, which has been great for everything else. I experimented with all sorts of different buffer sizes large and small to no avail. Among literally dozens of synth plugins, DCAM is the only one that has given me problems. However, it is interesting that when I ran the DCAM update in standalone mode (before downgrading), the noise disappeared. There's some sort of conflict between DCAM, Breverb, and Live that Fxpansion simply has to straighten out. I trust they'll get it fixed.

Changing buffers , as previously mentioned, doesn't help here, either. Sonar 8.53, Edirol Fa-66, WDM drivers. The popping lessens somewhat at ridiculously high latencies - eg., 73ms + - but doesn't completely disappear. IF the 'wet' nob in whatever Breverb plug-in is set to %100, it seems to stop - some of the time. This popping also occured in the previous version to a lesser extent; I fiddled with some buffers, re-profiled the aud.ini (sorry, sonar-speak), and it went away. I wonder if it has to do with the automatic delay compensation - any problems I've had with other plugs come down to either this or some signal routing issue. Hope it can be fixed - those Breverb plugs are n-i-c-e....

set my buffer to 5ms (224) & now breverb no longer crackles in XT2 or Reaper, @ 6ms (264) it dose crackle

thanks for the tip!!
