..for the record, I upgraded knowing the situation but thought I'd give it a shot- but I reinstalled mojave as I am waiting for Fxpansion and Lexicon to nail out the kinks. Fxpansion is at least keeping us (their customers) up to date with their progress. Lexicon (Harman) is giving me a lot less information than Fxpansion when it comes to progress on compatibility. But I'm sure Both developers are wanting their products compatible every bit as much as I do! I'm checking both sites weekly, and when they both have compatibility with the products I own I'm gonna upgrade back to Catalina immediately. I'm not holding my breath though, this takes time.. And to be honest, if both products in my case are fully compatible in the next 3 months, I'll consider that fast.

FXpansion is not a small one-man software company. It looks like they have cut back on programmers and produced code that is difficult to maintain. There is no other way to explain this disaster, there is really no excuse for it. Other companies with much more complex systems, such as RME, for example, have managed to get it done in a flash. This is very bad management and planning style of FXpansion. If I want to use the software professionally, it simply has to work in a timely manner. It's a shame for a company like FXpansion. Drivers are not rocket science, unless the code was previously so overloaded and unstructured that this now becomes a problem. But that is then far away from "professional". I hope FXpansion learns from this in the future. BFD3 is by far the best sampler in terms of sound. It would be a pity if this all goes down the drain, just because FXpansion doesn't do its homework in the software properly.
I'd be willing to pay $50 driver/update fee if FXpansion would get a software engineer to clean up the code and get new drivers. Before anyone asks, I am a software engineer myself.

Sorry for my rant. But I had to set up a new Mac for a project and diddn't see it coming that BFD3 STILL has no proper drivers for Catalina. So I have to downgrade to Mojave. Thank god, I do audio engineering only as a sideline.

Nervertheless Merry Christmas

I could not agree more with Norbert. It's not that the Cataline update surprised everyone. I'm aware that the update contained some serious new code but all of that was already announced months before its release, Besides that the pre-release was also made available to developers, months before its release. I upgraded in the believe that Fxpansion would have the update anytime soon. But this amount of time its taking them is really unbelievable and nothing more than a nose at the endusers.

Well said. I'll append my +1 for keeping alerted to developments re Catalina compatibility.
(Is there a feature in this forum which lets me click on a button to be alerted to any new posts to a particular topic/thread? I looked but didn't find it. TIA)

That so-called "Ultimate" Pro Audio Guide To macOS Catalina Compatibility is woefully out of date. Arturia's instruments and plugins are all Catalina-compat now.

I note that, with regard to FXpansion, it's been crickets in here since Dec 13. I make use of Strobe 2 extensively in my work, and because of that, I am unable to update my system to Catalina. PreSonus, Waves, SoundToys, Arturia, Celemony, Native Instruments, Toontracks... everything else I use has been made compatible with Catalina for quite some time. FXpansion is lagging badly in this regard. Very disappointing.

i'm starting to agree. i updated to catalina when it came out, and purchased BFD3 on black friday on assurances from roli support that it would be compatible in the very near future. over a month later, still not compatible, no real word on timeline, and i'm stuck with software i can't use.

How can we get notified as soon as there is an update? I have just bought a new iMac with Catalina pre-installed and downgrading only on BFD3's account is not practical.

Thank you!

Hi,

does anybody know how to get DCAM synth squad onto Catalina? The installer is greyed out...

asked support a week ago with no response ...

I assume it is possible as the plugin themselves are 64 bit and I think just the installer script doesn't work..

Strobe is a bread and butter plugin for me and because of time critical projects I purchased Strobe2, but Strobe2 doesn't behave or sound the same :( :( :(

I have implemented the permissions workaround and can now run BFD3 standalone with only the incoming network and microphone prompts appearing every time I run it.

However I cannot run it as a VST plugin within Cubase. It crashes every time with a segmentation fault.

Here is the head and tail of the crash log...

I am running Cubase 10.5.0.68 (10.5.0.68) and BFD3 v3.3.0 build 44 64-bit.

Losing valuable customers, FXpansion! How costly will this end up being for you? Got an update?

I’ll take a look at Addicitve drums. I’ve been looking at Studio Drummer from Native as I already use other Kinealy instruments but reviews suggest there are long load times.

I really like Amber and managed to get them working on Catalina. I installed DCAM on macOS 10.14 (or earlier) and then copied all the files over to Catalina. They're 64-bit plug-ins and run fine. The issue is just with their installer.

Here are the folders/files I've copied over. Hope I didn't forget any, I just did this as I was reinstalling my computer after upgrading to Catalina and wasn't paying much attention. Just copy these folders from the hard drive running macOS 10.14 or earlier to the new hard drive running Catalina.

Ok. Waited long enough! Hate to say this, because I was very content with BFD3, but the show must go on .....
Can anybody verify that addictive drums 2 works on macOS 10.15?

I'd have to differ on that assessment. Their silence now is deafening. It's beginning to feel more and more like the developers have thrown in the towel, and the current delay is so that the marketing people can wordsmith an announcement that we'll never be able to run FXpansion product on macOS Catalina. Being a software engineer myself, I have a fairly good understanding of what is required. There is no way it should take this long.
