Conversion of older data files?

Postby mightygorgon » Tue Oct 01, 2013 6:34 pm

Hello there,
The lossless compressed audio files is shown as a highlight in bdf3 ads. (55GB instead of 165GB)

1. Does that mean the older content (including Platinum Samples stuff) was uncompressed?
2. If so will you release a utility app to convert older data to this newer format?

Best Regards,
utku

Do my questions have a very obvious answer that I missed or? I would like to spare some space on the SSD if possible.

It' something we'd like to do if and when time allows - obviously bedding down the main product is our priority at the moment.

Drew_FX used our internal tools to squash his entire BFD library from something like 850GB to 350GB.

Excellent, an existing internal tool is always a good start :)

No news yet, but we do have some rough ideas on putting together a tool. It would be really useful for you guys to have it, but it will of course break backwards compatibility with BFD1 and BFD2. But yes, I have a 1TB drive at home with almost all of the packs on, that I got down to about 400GB once I went over to the BFDLAC format for everything.

As Skot said, we're really just trying to focus on the main product first. But we are aware of how cool this could be.

Almost a year later, I feel it's again time to revive the topic. Any news on bfdlac utility for older samples?

We've got something in house that does the job. A few beta-testers have tried it, it's a little unpredictable and crashy right now, so wont be hitting the public soon. But please know we are aware of the desire for a tool, and it's on our list.

Hi,

I also would be especially interested in this utility.
Moving the data to an SSD improves load times quite a bit, but since these don't come cheap, every Gb saved counts !

Thanks,

Lorcan

Happy new year!

Another season has passed, any plans on this front for 2015?

PS: I would love to get my hands on the existing tool if possible...
